The Ecumenical Council was founded in the mid 1970's to serve as a visible symbol of the unity of the Christian Church, to provide opportunities for community worship, for communication between congregations, to provide a forum for peace and justice issues, and to serve a coordinating function for community outreach programs. Some of the activities we are currently active in is running the weekly Grace Pantry on Wednesday afternoons at the Baldwin House on Church Street, providing non-food items that people cannot get with SNAP benefits. We also have established the Transitional Housing Center in Saranac Lake called Samaritan House. There is the annual Ecumenical Christmas Food Boxes. We also work with the Salvation Army to help meeting needs of those who need help in Saranac Lake. The Ecumenical Council is a 501©3 tax-exempt organization for charitable giving.
