Who We Are:
The Ecumenical Council of Saranac Lake represents churches from Saranac Lake who have come together to work on projects in the area that are too large for any one church to consider on its own. Working together, we can accomplish more than we can individually.
What We've Done:
In the past, the Ecumenical Council has been responsible for starting the Food Pantry, the Youth Center, the LunchBox program, Habitat For Humanity, Samaritan House and more. None of these would have been possible for any one church to get started on their own.
What We're Doing Now:
The Ecumenical Council is currently running the Grace Pantry, a source for non-food items that do not qualify for food stamp purchase such as personal hygiene items, soap, diapers, cleaning supplies and more (see details under the "Grace Pantry" tab). We are administering Emergency Assistance Funds for people who need help with bills during and after the COVID-19 crisis. We run Samaritan House, a Transitional Housing center to help the area homeless from Franklin and Essex Counties in partnership with Lakeside House (see details under the "Housing" tab). We also run a program that provides holiday meals for needy families and we coordinate with the Saranac Lake Salvation Army representatives to help meet needs.
COVID-19 Assistance:
If you are having difficulty meeting your financial obligations because of the COVID-19 crisis, the Ecumenical Council may be able to help. Please reach out to us using the contact information at the bottom of this page. We have emergency funds available to help you. If you know someone who is in financial trouble because of the crisis, please pass our contact information along to them.
